Our Head CoachJosh Saylor assumed the role of Head Coach summer 2006, and will also serve as the Head Coach of the Brownsburg High School boys and girls swimming teams this fall. Prior to coming to Swim Indy, Josh was the Head Coach of the Vincennes YMCA from September 2003 through March 2006. Josh produced four individual Age Group State championships, multiple State, Zone and Sectional qualifiers and three NCSA Junior National qualifiers. One of Josh’s swimmers was also a national age group champion in The Philippines and represented his country in international competition. Josh was the Head Coach at Vincennes University during the 2005-06 short course season, where he guided the Trailblazer men’s and women’s teams to fourth place finishes at the NJCAA National Championships, an effort which resulted in 11 Trailblazer athletes being recognized as Community College All-Americans. Josh’s coaching experience also includes serving as an age group assistant coach (1997-2000) for the Lake Forest Swim Club in Lake Forest, Ill. Josh is an ASCA Level 2 coach, has served as an Indiana Swimming head camp coach and an Illinois Zone Team coach. Josh was a four-year member (1994-1997) of the University of Notre Dame’s men’s swimming team and a three-time MVP and four-time sectional champion for John Adams High School in South Bend, Indiana. Our Assistant CoachesAndy O'Maley is our current Head Age Group coach. He most recently was at Central Indiana Aquatics, where he coached several Senior and Age Group level State and Zone qualifying swimmers, including one Age Group State Champion. Some of his coaching accomplishments include earning ASCA Level 2 Coach Certification and representing Indiana Swimming as a Zone and Quad Team Coach on 3 occasions (Local Assistant 2004, 11-12 Boys' Head Coach 2004, 10 & Under Girls' Head Coach 2006). Andy's coaching experience also include stints as the boys' varsity head coach at Southport and Cardinal Ritter high schools. He swam at University of Indianapolis and served as the team captain for three years. While at U of I, he was awarded the Men's Team Kelso M. Reid Mental Attitude Award three out of four years. Andy and his wife are expecting their first child in October. He teaches Art at Cardinal Ritter High School. Raz Cuparencu is the Age Group coach for Senior Development, Bronze, and Silver Groups. He most recently was at Terre Haute Torpedoes. Raz has exhibited a passion for kids and fast swimming. He has coached several of the state's top age group swimmers at THT. Linda Partlow is an ASCA Level 2 certified USA coach. Linda was inducted into the Indiana High School Swimming Hall of Fame with the Inaugural Class of 2007 for her outstanding swimming career. She graduated from Ben Davis High School and is an IHSAA 7-time Swimming State Champion (5 individual events) and Record Holder. Linda earned a 4 year swimming scholarship to Miami University (Ohio) and graduated with a BS Degree in Mass Communications. While swimming at MU, Linda held many school records, became Mid American Conference Swimming Champion and was voted Team Captain her senior year. Not only is Linda a former championship swimmer, certified USA swimming coach, she is a USA certified Starter/Official, USMS Master Swimmer-State Record Holder, former Swim Indy Board Secretary, Brownsburg Middle School Assistant Swim Coach and the parent of three Swim Indy swimmers. Travis Smith has spent 15 years building and supporting swim programs. He has 6 years of experience coaching high school swim teams and 7 years experience coaching middle schools and 7 years coaching experience with the Indy Parks and Recreation Aquatic Department. He has coached swimmers of all ages and all levels of ability. Travis graduated from Butler University with a BS degree in Elementary Education and Academic Honors from Ben Davis High School. During Travis' competitive swimming career, he earned NISCA Academic All-State/All-American honors, was team co-captain at Ben Davis as a senior, and was a member of Swim Indy. As the Decatur Central High School coach, Travis was voted the 2000 Boys' Sectional Coach of the Year by his peers. He is also an 8th grade science teacher at West Middle School.Novice Group AssistantsKatie Ancel is a sophomore at Brownsburg. Katie is a member of the Senior training group. Brianna Dale is a freshman at Brownsburg. Brianna is a member of the Senior training group. Valerie Jones is a junior at Brownsburg. Valerie is a State, Sectional, and Zone qualifier and Scholastic All-American in our Senior training group. Colleen Rader is a junior at Brownsburg. "Cosmo" has been a member of Swim Indy since 2000 when her family moved to Brownsburg from South Bend.
